AI Transparency

Version 1.0 · effective 18 September 2026 · last reviewed 18 September 2026 · next review 18 March 2027

In short

  • ReviseBase uses AI to turn your material into notes, quizzes, flashcards, tutor answers, recommendations and originality reports.
  • When you use those features, you are interacting with an AI system, not a person.
  • Your uploaded material and questions are sent as prompts to third-party AI models through our platform provider — never your name, email or payment details.
  • The providers, models, purposes and limitations are listed in the table on this page, kept up to date by our team.
  • Whether providers use prompts for training, and exactly how long they keep them: UNVERIFIED — we publish nothing until confirmed in writing.
  • AI output can be wrong. Check important academic information with your course materials, specification or teacher/lecturer — AI does not replace them.
  • Spot a problem? Use the Report question button on quiz results or the contact page.

Read the full policy below.

1. ReviseBase uses AI — here is exactly where

ReviseBase is built around generative AI. When you use any of the following, you are interacting with an AI system, not a person:

  • Document processing: extracting revision notes, summaries and key points from materials you upload or paste.
  • Quiz generation: questions, options, answers and explanations derived from your materials.
  • Flashcard generation: cards created from your materials.
  • AI study assistant: conversational, teaching-style answers to your study questions — it explains and guides rather than doing your work for you.
  • Study recommendations: suggested next steps after quizzes, based on your performance.
  • Originality reports: an AI assessment of text you provide — indicative, not a finding of misconduct.
  • Public demo content: curated examples shown in the Take a Look tour.

2. Providers and models

We use frontier AI models from third-party providers, selected and managed through our platform provider (Base44). The table on this page lists each provider, model, what it is used for and its known limitations, and our team keeps it up to date.

UNVERIFIED — HUMAN/PROVIDER CONFIRMATION REQUIRED: which specific models serve the platform's automatic routing for each feature; until confirmed, the table lists models at the provider level rather than per-feature assignments.

3. What data is sent to AI providers

For the features above we send:

  • the material you upload or paste (document text, pasted notes, or fetched web/YouTube page content);
  • your questions and instructions (prompts);
  • small amounts of context needed to personalise output (for example your topic name or study level).

We do not send your name, email, payment details or account credentials to AI providers. Only content you actively choose to process goes to them.

4. Retention and training use

AI outputs are stored as ordinary records in your account and follow the same retention as your study content — they are deleted when you delete them or your account.

UNVERIFIED — HUMAN/PROVIDER CONFIRMATION REQUIRED: how long providers retain prompts/outputs and whether they are used to train their models. We make no claim about provider training practices until confirmed in writing; see the providers' own policies for their standard terms.

5. Processing locations

AI processing may take place outside the UK, including in the United States. See the Privacy Policy for how international transfers are handled. UNVERIFIED — HUMAN/PROVIDER CONFIRMATION REQUIRED: the exact processing regions per provider.

6. Limitations — AI can be wrong

Generative AI can produce content that is incorrect, incomplete, out-of-date or misread from your materials — including wrong quiz answers, misleading explanations or invented facts. Treat every AI output as a starting point:

  • check anything important against your class notes, specification, textbook or teacher/lecturer before relying on it in exams or coursework;
  • read our AI & Educational Disclaimer for how to use these tools responsibly.

7. AI does not replace teachers or lecturers

ReviseBase is a revision aid, not a substitute for your teachers, school resources or exam-board materials. It provides no professional advice of any kind. Misusing AI-generated content in assessments may breach your school's or exam board's rules — you are responsible for knowing and following them.

8. How to raise AI questions or problems

  • Use the Report question button on quiz results to flag a wrong or unclear AI question — reports go to our team.
  • Use the contact page for anything else about how AI is used.

9. Human oversight

Our team reviews user reports of AI errors, monitors output quality through reported issues, and can disable AI features when needed. No AI system here makes automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you.

AI models and providers we use

ReviseBase uses third-party AI models, selected and managed through our platform's AI infrastructure, to power its study features. The list below is maintained by our team and shows what each model is used for within ReviseBase.
